I first met Edwina in school and back then, we couldn’t have been more different. She was the quiet girl, the one with a mysterious calm, while I was the spirited troublemaker, always at the center of chaos. We crossed paths often - her presence felt like a soft melody amidst the noise of my life. Yet, we hardly spoke; an occasional smile was the extent of our interactions, like two actors on a stage with no lines together.

Years later, fate, with its uncanny sense of timing, brought us back together at Fourah Bay College. Once again, our interactions were nothing more than polite helloes exchanged in passing. Then came the invitation, a birthday party hosted by a mutual friend. I almost declined; the thought of small talk and social pleasantries felt like a chore. But something made me go.

And there she was!

The quiet girl I hardly knew was laughing at something someone said, her laughter a symphony that turned heads. For the first time, I saw her not as a distant figure from school but as someone magnetic, someone whose world I suddenly wanted to be a part of. That night, everything changed. For the first time, I truly saw Edwina - and I was captivated. I saw her as someone I truly wanted to know better.
